About the Lion

Hello I'm Carrie! I started this blog when I was a part-time, youth services parapro at my local library. For 2 years I posted the things I did at the library, like storytime and crafts/programs and displays (you can still access those!). In 2015 I decided I needed to be home with my kids more, but wanted to keep the book love going (click here to read the post about my transition).
The almost-100-year-old library, and a
look down one of the rows of kids books.
My last name is pronounced like what a lion says, and I love to read, hence the blog's title. I have been happily married to Rocky for 12 years, and have 3 daughters - Abby is 7 and in second grade, Ellie is 5 and in kindergarten, and Penny was born in February 2017!

My personal reading preferences have jumped all over the place in recent years. I really enjoy reading YA and some middle-grade fiction, everything from fantasy and dystopian to fun and humorous. I also read modern and historical fiction and some classics too. Click here to read my reviews. I'm also an independent consultant with Usborne Books & More -- click here to read more about that journey
Ms. Frizzle for Halloween!
When I'm not reading, I enjoy walks with and without my kids, visits to the zoo, digging in the dirt, cooking and baking, crocheting, serving in children's ministries in my church, and playing drums and singing in our praise band. I also work part-time as the communications coordinator for our church.

Thanks for stopping by!

  3. Hi Carrie,

I'd love to have Fierce Winds & Fiery Dragons reviewed on your site. It's a story about Ivy, a girl whose teacher is a dragon. The class egg hatches into a baby dragon, leading Ivy into a great adventure.

The ebook is free on Amazon as of this posting.

    Thanks,
    Nan
