NEW Kids Picture Books: Day 5

Nibbles The Book Monster by Emma Yarlett.
Fall 2015. 16 pages

From Usborne: "Nibbles is on the loose, and he's chomping through all of your favorite fairy tales! With books within the book, Emma Yarlett's utterly appealing artwork, and lots and lots of nibbled holes, this laugh-out-loud funny and ferocious charmer's unstoppable appetite for the printed page will nibble a hole right through your heart."

My thoughts: This book is so unique! It has a few flaps, but also holes through the pages and even a couple of mini-books within the book. My kids laugh hysterically as they see the chaos created by Nibbles. It also opens some good discussion about how we are supposed to treat our books.

There is even a plush Nibbles available to purchase, which we don't own quite yet, but I imagine would be an adorable addition to a stuffed animal collection or even a bookshelf.

Recommended Age: 4-8 years

The story of Goldilocks within the book -- Nibbles was here!

  1. Oh wow, this looks awesome!! I don't know if it would survive all the intense love it would get at the library, but it could work beautifully as a story time book. Kids are just fascinated by flaps! :)

    1. Very true! When I was a children's librarian we had a special stack of books behind the desk that couldn't be taken home like regular books.

BUT Usborne does have a replacement policy, where if a book gets ripped or destroyed for any reason, we can replace it for half of the original price. That's great whether it's for a library or even your own home! :)
